Exploring Ancient World Cultures (EAWC) is an introductory, on-line, "textbook"
of ancient world cultures. Contains pages for eight ancient cultures--Near
East, India, Egypt, China, Greece, Rome, Early Islam, and Medieval Europe.
Maintained by the University of Evansville, Indiana.
From the Hindu Students Council, this site fulfills part of their mission
to raise cultural awareness of the Hindu tradition. Worth a visit, if you
avoid the current news section of this site. All in all, a bit too preachy.
Some Images of Indian Art
There are not many sites with images of ancient Indian art. These are
the only two large collections I've seen.
While not really about the Mahabharata, this site has a large collection
of images, divided into eight or nine sections with museum-like descriptions
of each. Alamkara is a joint effort of the Asian
Civilizations Museum, Singapore, and the National Museum, New Delhi,
India.
